Memorial service and sports event in Mayor's diary

A memorial service for a much-loved Peterborian and a special sports event are among dates in the Mayoral diary this week.

Friday, 8 February - The Mayor and Mayoress will cut a ribbon to open a new shop in Peterborough city centre. Wood Green, the animal charity, is holding an opening ceremony for a new store in Long Causeway, Peterborough, between 10.30am and 11.30am.

Friday, 8 February - The Mayor and Mayoress will attend a memorial service for Peter Boizot at Peterborough Cathedral between 2pm - 3pm. Mr Boizot, who died in December 2018 aged 89, was famed for founding the Pizza Express restaurant chain and for his time as owner of Peterborough United Football Club.

Saturday, 9 February - The Mayor, Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will be special guests at Sporting Saturday, an annual sports event for people with disabilities. It takes place at The Cresset in Bretton, Peterborough, between 10.45am and 1pm.

Saturday, 9 February - The Mayor, Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend the Mayor's Caribbean evening at the Afro Caribbean Millennium Centre in Dickens Street, Peterborough from 6.30pm. The event will feature a Caribbean buffet and dancing to Zeb Rootz.
