Merchant Navy Day and the Burghley Horse Trials keep the Mayor busy

The Burghley Horse Trials and a ceremony to mark Merchant Navy Day are among the events in the Mayor’s diary.

Friday 1 September - The Mayor, Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend a ceremony to mark Merchant Navy Day and pay tribute to the sacrifices of seafarers. The Red Ensign, the Merchant Navy’s official flag, will be raised at the War Memorial in Bridge Street, Peterborough, at 10am.

Friday 1 September - The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the unveiling of a statue of Chris Turner at Peterborough United Football Club between 2pm  and 4pm.

Friday 1 September - The Mayor, Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend the Peterborough Youth Orchestra Summer Concert. The event takes place in the Reception room at the Town Hall between 6.15pm and 8.15pm.

Saturday 2 September - The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend the Peterborough Sea Cadets' 75th anniversary summer fayre. They will attend the fayre between 12noon and 4pm at the Old Customs House, Embankment Road, PE1 1EG. 

Saturday 2 September - The Mayor and Mayoress will cut a ribbon to mark the official opening of a new extension to Northborough Village Hall. They will attend the event between 2pm and 4pm at the hall on Cromwell Close, PE6 9DP.

Sunday 3 September - The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Burghley Horse Trials at Burghley Park between 10am and 12noon.

Sunday 3 September - The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Peterborough Classic and Vintage Vehicle Show on the Embankment between 1pm and 2pm.

Sunday 3 September - The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend the Peterborough Sea Cadets Family Fun Day as part of the organisation's 75th anniversary celebrations. They will attend the event between 12noon and 4pm at Teardrop Lake, London Road, PE7 0LQ.

Wednesday 6 September - The Mayor, Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend the opening of Smart Garden Product's new £18million logistics HQ called the Eureka Building. The event will take place between 11.30am and 1pm at Artemis Way, Gateway Peterborough business park, PE7 3AG.
