Moment of remembrance for Jo Cox MP

Peterborough City Council is leading a moment of remembrance for Jo Cox MP later today.

The leader of the city council, Cllr John Holdich, has invited councillors and council colleagues to meet at the Town Hall at 4.30pm to reflect on yesterday's events and remember Jo. Members of the public are welcome.

The flag on the Town Hall is flying at half mast today, and a book of condolence has been opened, again at the Town Hall.

In a message to councillors and employees, Cllr Holdich said: "You will all have heard by now of the tragic death of MP Jo Cox yesterday. This was a truly shocking and senseless attack on a dedicated politician, as she carried out her public duty.

"I would like to invite you to join me, our members and council colleagues in a moment of remembrance for Jo later today.  You may also wish to make a donation to Oxfam, the charity where Jo worked for a number of years prior to embarking on her political career.

"I very much hope you can join us this afternoon."
