Peterborough City Council named Local Authority Planning Team of the Year

Peterborough City Council was named Local Authority Planning Team of the Year at the 2015 Awards for Planning Excellence. The awards are run by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

Over the last two years Peterborough City Council has delivered a number of innovative and ground-breaking projects, producing solutions to a range of issues.

Cllr Peter Hiller, Cabinet Member for Growth, Planning, Housing and Economic Development, said:  "It's a real honour for our planning team to have been named Local Authority Team of the Year by the prestigious Royal Town Planning Institute. This accolade recognises their continued hard work that is helping this city to grow. They have been instrumental in the regeneration of the city centre, as well as setting out the wider plan which will shape Peterborough over the coming decades.

"We are now also working for other local authorities to pass on our expertise and to generate income for the council which helps to support frontline services for residents."

David Potter, Chair of RTPI East of England region said:  “It is fantastic that planning in the East of England has received national recognition through this prestigious Award. Planners across the region are working hard, every day to deliver great places for people to work and live.”

The RTPI represents 23,000 planning professionals worldwide and promotes spatial planning, shapes policy and raises professional standards. The Awards for Planning Excellence have been run by the RTPI for over 30 years to recognise planning excellence.
