The opening of a new residential care home and local village show are among the dates in the mayoral diary next week.
Wednesday 7 September: The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend Clayburn Court's first birthday party. The Deputy Mayor will open the event by welcoming residents and friends to celebrate Clayburn Court's first birthday. The party will take place at Clayburn Court Residential Home, Clayburn Road, Hampton, Peterborough between 2pm and 4pm.
Thursday 8 September: The Mayor will unveil a plaque at The Maples Opening Ceremony. Methodist Homes Housing Association (MHA) who are the hosts of this event provide care and support for elderly people. This new residential home will have their grand opening at The Maples, Goldhay Way, Peterborough between 2.15pm and 4pm.
Friday 9 September: The Deputy Mayor will attend the preview of the exhibition Lucy + Jorge Orta Food. This new exhibition by international artists Lucy and Jorge Orta is the culmination of an 18-month residency the artists have had with the city of Peterborough. The exhibition touches on themes of consumer food waste, global food distribution, seasonality of food, biodiversity and preservation of plant diversity. The visit will take place at City Gallery, Peterborough Museum, Priestgate, Peterborough between 6pm and 8pm.
Saturday 10 September: The Deputy Mayor will cut a ribbon at Busy Bees Day Nursery Launch Event. The nursery has been a part of the Hampton community for 12 years now and the event is to celebrate the completion of an extensive refurbishment of indoor facilities. The launch will bring local families together for a fun day of activities, such as a bouncy castle, face painting, zoolab and to raise funds for the nurseries charity Winston's Wish Foundation. The Deputy Mayor will attend the event between 10am and 10.30am at Busy Bees Day Nursery, Hargate Way, Hampton Hargate, Peterborough.
Saturday 10 September: The Deputy Mayor will attend the commemoration of the 69th Anniversary of Independence of Pakistan at Jack Hunt Secondary School, Ledbury Road, Netherton, Peterborough between 5pm and 7pm.
Sunday 11 September: The Mayor will attend the Newborough and Borough Fen Garden Club Village Show where he will make a speech to congratulate winners and view the displays of fruit, vegetables, handicrafts, photographs, flowers, cakes and preserves which have been made or grown by local residents. The show will take place at The Village Hall, Guntons Road, Newborough, Peterborough and the Mayor will attend the show between 2.15pm and 4.30pm.
