Queens awards ceremonies in Mayoral

Two prestigious awards ceremonies and a military memorial service are dates in the Mayoral diary for this coming week.

Tuesday 11 September - The Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend a Queens award presentation ceremony at Sailability, based at Ferry Meadows. It was announced earlier this year that Sailability, a charity which offers people with disabilities the chance to sail, had won the award, which is the highest honour given to volunteer groups across the UK for services to communities. Their visit takes place between 9.30am and 11am.

Tuesday 11 September - The Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend a Queens award presentation ceremony at The Railworld Wildlife Haven in Peterborough. The venue, based near Nene Valley railway station, helps create and maintain wildlife habitats as well as running an environmental education centre. Their visit takes place between 11.30am and 1pm.

Tuesday 11 September - The Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend a Citizenship ceremony in the council chambers at Peterborough Town Hall between 2pm and 3.30pm.

Tuesday 11 September - The Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend a British Empire Medal ceremony for Peterborough youth worker Tahir Masood. Mr Masood will receive his medal from the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire for services to young people and the community. The ceremony takes place in the council chambers at Peterborough Town Hall between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

Wednesday 12 September - The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will welcome guests at a special fun day, held at Ferry Meadows especially for people who work as carers. The event takes place between 1pm and 2.30pm.

Sunday 16 September - The Mayor, Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend a Battle of Britain memorial service at St John's Church, Church Street, Peterborough between 5.45pm and 7.45pm.
