Silver inspection and charity dog race keep Mayor busy

Annual inspection of the artillery silver and a charity dog race night are among the dates in the mayoral diary next week.

Monday 7 March
: The Mayor and Mayoress will host a photocall for the tenth successive year of Perkins Great Eastern Run. This year’s race will be on Sunday 9 October and so far more than 500 runners have signed up. The photocall will take place in the Mayor's Parlour, Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough at 9.30am.

A separate press release with additional information will be sent out Monday 7 March relating to this event.

Monday 7 March: The Mayor and Mayoress will welcome members of The Royal Artillery Association (Peterborough branch) for the annual inspection of the silver trophies. This is a traditional event which enables the branch to see their silver which belonged to 336th (Northamptonshire) Battery Royal Artillery. After World War 2, the survivors of the battery formed the Peterborough Branch of the Royal Artillery Association. The first meeting was on 14 May 1945 and regular meetings have been held continuously over the past 70 years. The inspection will take place in the Mayor's Parlour, Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough between 10.30am and 12 noon.

Friday 11 March: The Mayor and Mayoress will join pupils at their Good Work Assembly and present certificates and badges to say thank you to pupils that helped with the Holocaust Memorial Day. The visit will take place at Heltwate School, Heltwate, North Bretton, Peterborough, between 9am and 10.30am.

Saturday 12 March: The Mayor and Mayoress will cut a cake to celebrate the 5th birthday of St George's Community Hydrotherapy Pool opening to the public. It will incorporate pool sessions, refreshments and a raffle. The visit will take place at 367 Dogsthorpe Road, Peterborough between 11.30am and 1pm.

Saturday 12 March: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Peterborough and District Keep Fit Association's 50th anniversary celebrations. The visit will take place at The Marriott Hotel, Peterborough Business Park, Lynch Wood, Peterborough between 1pm and 2pm.

Saturday 12 March: The Mayor will attend the Spencer's Glitter Ball 2016 in aid of the Friends of Phoenix School. The fundraising charity ball evening will take place at Peterborough Arena, East of England Way, Orton Southgate, Peterborough between 6.30pm and 1am.

Saturday 12 March: The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress will present a prize to the winner of the last race at a Charity Dog Race Night. The event will be sponsored by the Mayor's charities Age UK Peterborough, Hope into Action, Scout and Guide Movement and Combined Cadet Force  The evening will take place at The Peterborough Greyhound Stadium, Fengate, Peterborough between 6.30pm and 10pm.
