Shailesh Vara retained the North West Cambridgeshire parliamentary seat for the Conservatives in yesterday’s (Thursday 7 May 2015) general election.
He secured 32,070 votes, exceeding his nearest rival, Peter Reeve from UKIP who secured 12,275 votes. Labour’s Nick Thulbourn was in third place with 10,927 votes, followed by Liberal Democrat Nick Sandford with 3,479 votes. Nicola Day from the Green Party received 2,159 votes and Fay Belham from the Christian Peoples Alliance secured 190 votes.
Turnout was 66.5 per cent with a total of 61,280 votes cast.
