VIP visit and Chinese New Year dinner keep Mayor busy

A VIP visit by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall to celebrate the National Literacy Trust Hub in Peterborough and a themed meal for Chinese New Year are among the dates in the mayoral diary next week.

Monday 1 February
: The Mayor and Mayoress will welcome 12 children and teachers from Welbourne Primary School Council. Cllr John Peach will explain his mayoral role and give the students a tour of the Mayor's Parlour and Council Chambers. The visit will take place in the Mayor's Parlour, Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough between 10am and 11am.

Tuesday 2 February: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend a wine tasting evening with a Fairtrade twist. Fairtrade Peterborough will be hosting this informal evening, sampling fair trade wines and nibbles. A guest speaker from Fairtrade Foundation will talk about Fairtrade wines and their aim to achieve Fairtrade City status. The wine tasting will take place in The Becket Chapel, Cathedral Precincts, Peterborough between 7.30pm and  8.45pm

Wednesday 3 February: The Mayor and Mayoress will be guests at a VIP reception attended by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. The Duchess, who is a patron of the National Literacy Trust, is coming to learn about and celebrate the work of the National Literacy Trust Hub in Peterborough. The Trust is working in partnership with Peterborough City Council and other local organisations to address low literacy in the area. The reception will take place at Peterborough Cathedral between 11am and 12noon.
The event will then move on to celebrate the work of the National Literacy Trust Hub in the Reception Room, Town Hall, Peterborough between 12.30pm and 2pm.

Thursday 4 February: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend a Chinese New Year Theme Night at Parcs Restaurant, Peterborough Regional College's training restaurant at Park Crescent between 6pm and 9pm.

Sunday 7 February: The Mayor and Mayoress will be entertained with music past and present by Di Nash and Damian Mellor at a Jazz Brunch hosted by The Peterborough School, Thorpe Road between 11.30am and 12noon.
