Wreath laying and hamper presentation keep Mayor busy

The laying of a Christmas wreath and presenting of a hamper at the Christmas Market Hamper giveaway are among the dates in the mayoral diary next week.

Tuesday 15 December
: The Mayor and Mayoress will make a visit to Royal Mail Peterborough Delivery Office for a tour of the mail room and see the Christmas operation, as well as meeting the postmen and women who serve Peterborough. The visit will take place at Peterborough Delivery Office and Mail Centre, Papyrus Road, Peterborough between 7.30am and 8am.

Tuesday 15 December: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Netherton Friendship Club Christmas Party. The party and Christmas lunch takes place at St Andrews United Reform Church, Church Hall, Ledbury Road, Netherton, Peterborough between 12.30pm and 1.45pm.

Tuesday 15 December: The Deputy Mayor will attend the opening of Green Square on Long Causeway, Peterborough between 2pm and 3pm. A separate press release on this will follow.

Tuesday 15 December: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend Thomas Deacon Academy's Christmas Carol Service. The service will take place at Peterborough Cathedral, Peterborough between 6.45pm and 8.30pm.

Wednesday 16 December: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the annual The King's (The Cathedral) School Christmas Concert hosted by students from the school. The concert will take place at Peterborough Cathedral, Peterborough between 6.45pm and 9.45pm.

Thursday 17 December:  The Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor will lay a Christmas Wreath at the War Memorial followed by refreshments in the Reception Room, Bridge Street, Peterborough between 10.30am and 11.45am.

Thursday 17 December: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Royal British Legion Christmas Dinner for Royal British Legion members. The dinner will take place at Peterborough Sports and Leisure Club, Lincoln Road, Peterborough between 4pm and 6pm.

Friday 18 December: The Mayor and Mayoress will draw the winning ticket and present the prize in the City Market Christmas Hamper Giveaway. The presentation will take place in the Mayor's Parlour, Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough and the Mayor will then accompany the market management team to deliver the prize to the winner's home address (if they are available). The draw will take place at 12noon.

Friday 18 December: The Mayor will cut a ribbon and make a presentation at the Grand Pub opening and naming ceremony at Avery House Care Home. The opening and naming of this newly built pub on the Windsor Suite will take place at Avery House Care Home, Chaffinch Lane, Peterborough between 6pm and 6.30pm.

Sunday 20 December: The Mayor and Mayoress will start the annual Santa Stroll and Run and after the race present medals to finishers. The event is to raise money for Peterborough Dementia Action Group and help with the funding of the Dementia Resource Centre. The event will take place at Ferry Meadows, Ham Lane, Peterborough between 10.45am and 12 noon.
