High level of first choice offers for Peterborough pupils in 2023

01 March 2023

There has been a rise in the proportion of pupils offered a place at one of their preferred Peterborough secondary schools.

In total, 90.6% of pupils have received a place at their first-choice school for 2023/24, compared with 89.6% this time last year.

Moreover, 98% of pupils were allocated a spot at either their first or second preference school which is also higher than 12 months ago. Overall, 3,010 offers were made.

Students will hear today (1 March) at which secondary school they have been offered a place in September 2023.

Councillor Lynne Ayres, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Education, Skills and the University, said: “I am delighted once again, to see so many pupils being offered their first or second choice secondary school. Particularly given that there were over 400 more applications made this year. I would like to thank parents and carers for their timely applications and for maximising the use of our online applications. I’d also like to acknowledge the excellent work being done by our admissions team.”
