Residents are reminded that their bin collection dates between Christmas and New Year move on a day. So, for example if your bin day is usually Tuesday December 26 it will be Wednesday December 27 instead, and so on up to Saturday December 30. Please see the table below for revised collection dates.
|Normal collection day||Revised collection day|
|Tuesday 26 December||Wednesday 27 December|
|Wednesday 27 December||Thursday 28 December|
|Thursday 28 December||Friday 29 December|
|Friday 29 December||Saturday 30 December|
Black and green bin collections return to normal service from Tuesday January 2 in the New Year. If you have any recycling that cannot fit in your green bin, you can put this in clear bags next to your green bin on its collection day. Please also remember to put your food bin out for collection.
Peterborough City Council’s brown bin garden waste collections will be monthly in December and January. Please refer to your Terms and Conditions document for the appropriate dates. The paid-for service, which was launched in May 2014, provides all year-round collection of garden waste. However, as the service is used less during December and January there is only one brown bin collection each month for this service.
Christmas trees can be taken to the Household Recycling Centre (HRC) in Dogsthorpe, PE1 3TD. It’s open seven days a week from 8am to 4pm, except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. It will close at noon on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Alternatively, if you pay for your brown bin to be emptied you can chop your tree up and place it in there.
