A fun packed summer fiesta and pedal powered cycle cinema will signal the start of this year’s free Travelchoice fortnight in Peterborough.
The family fun day at Peterborough’s East Community Centre on Padholme Road, is just one of a number of free events and activities taking place from Saturday 22 August to Saturday 5 September, all celebrating sustainable travel options across Peterborough.
The ever popular cycle cinema returns to various locations with this year’s films including The Lion King, Shark Tale and The Penguins of Madagascar in addition to a drive-in car share cinema showing The Hangover.
Cllr Nigel North, Peterborough City Council's cabinet member for communities and environment capital, said: “The Travelchoice team always put a great deal of time and effort into organising a fun, varied calendar of activities during the summer showcase event. All of which are free to attend.
"This year looks like no exception and there will be something for everyone to enjoy over the fortnight, whether it's watching The Lion King under the shade of Central Park's trees, listening to live music, or trying out a range of different bikes in Ferry Meadows.
"While there is an emphasis on having fun, the Travelchoice team will share the message of the importance of reducing the need to travel by car and using sustainable transport. As well as being a more convenient, enjoyable, healthy and economical way to live, it matches our aspirations in creating the UK’s Environment Capital".
