Residents in Werrington are being invited to have their say on planning the future of the community.
Following successful designation of the Werrington Neighbourhood Area in October, the group who submitted the application - Werrington Area Forum - has now applied to become formally recognised as a neighbourhood forum, to enable them to prepare a neighbourhood plan for the area.
A neighbourhood plan allows residents to have a greater say over the type of developments that take place in their community and once a plan is approved, the district council will make planning decisions in accordance with the policies of the neighbourhood plan, along with those in the local plan.
Peterborough City Council is currently consulting on the Werrington Neighbourhood Forum application until Friday 18 January 2019, comments received after this time may not be considered.
Comments on the application can be submitted either:
- via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
- in writing to: Sustainable Growth Strategy, Peterborough City Council, Sand Martin House, Bittern Way, Fletton Quays, Peterborough PE2 8TY.
If formal designation of a Neighbourhood Forum is made, no other organisation or body may be designated as a Neighbourhood Forum for that area until the designation expires (after five years) or is withdrawn.
If an alternative Neighbourhood Forum wants to put itself forward to prepare a neighbourhood plan for Werrington Neighbourhood Area, it must submit the same information as required by the original applicant within the consultation period.
For more information about the application or consultation, please contact the council's planning policy team via the email or address above, or call 01733 863872 and ask for Phil Hylton.
