Inter-Faith Council food and faith festival

Residents can celebrate different faiths and foods at the Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough, this Sunday (17 May 2015).

Peterborough Inter-Faith Council and Peterborough City Council are hosting the faith festival and food event. This year's event is titled 'effects of global events on local faith communities'. It will offer a variety of traditional foods from different countries, cultures and religions and speeches and discussions regarding the major faiths in Peterborough.

The afternoon starts at 12pm with an introduction from the chair of the Peterborough Inter-Faith Council, Dr Jaspal Singh.

Gillian Beasley, chief executive of Peterborough City Council said: “I always enjoy attending this annual festival as it celebrates the many faiths and cultures we have in Peterborough. I am looking forward to discussing how we at Peterborough City Council work with faith groups across the city.

“The Inter-Faith Council works to unite communities across our city which enjoys such rich diversity, whether it be in food, music or dress. I hope people take the opportunity to come along, try some great food and perhaps learn something new as well.”

The event will be attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Peterborough.
