Register your interest for new local energy tariffs

Residents / 20 Mar 2015

Peterborough residents can now pre-register for new city-wide energy tariffs that will be amongst the cheapest in the country.

In January the council entered into a partnership with OVO Energy to establish dual and single fuel (electricity only) energy tariffs that are exclusive to residents with Peterborough local authority area postcodes.

The new tariffs will be jointly branded between OVO Energy and Peterborough City Council, as Peterborough Energy, and offer a competitive, local alternative to the Big Six energy providers.

Residents will be able to sign up and switch to the Peterborough Energy tariffs from Monday 27 April 2015, and can now register their interest ahead of the launch.

Both the city council and OVO are committed to providing great value. Customers will benefit from:

Potential average savings of up to £230* on your annual energy bill;

No exit fees**;

3 per cent Interest Reward paid on all credit balances, up to £1,000***;

Award-winning customer service from OVO Energy, Supplier of the Year in uSwitch Energy Awards 2014.

Councillor Marco Cereste, Leader of Peterborough City Council, said: “Our partnership with OVO strikes a great deal for city residents and could save them hundreds of pounds every year. This will put money back in their pocket and help to reduce fuel poverty across the city.

“People can register their interest over the coming weeks and this means they will get contacted when the tariffs go live at the end of April. These new Peterborough Energy tariffs show our commitment to get the best offer for residents – and will save most people a lot of money.”

Craig Morley, MD of OVO Communities comments: “We are excited to be working with Peterborough City Council to offer better value energy to residents. We will be working with key community representatives throughout Peterborough to ensure we are getting to speak to those customers that will most benefit from the new tariff. With considerable savings expected we hope residents really get behind this new energy offering.”

Customers who pay by monthly direct debit can switch from April 27. Pre-payment, also known as pay-as-you-go, customers will be able sign up soon after.
