The deadline’s approaching for local people to nominate good causes for one of five £1,000 grants being offered by the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and Perkins Great Eastern Run sponsorship partnership.
The £5,000 was raised through generous donations at the city’s half marathon last year. It’s now ready and waiting to be distributed to Peterborough charities that support children or anyone affected by cancer that are nominated by the deadline of Monday 14 August 2017.
The nomination process is simple - either visit the Jane Tomlinson Appeal website or pick up a form from the Visitor Information Centre, Bridge Street, Peterborough.
The Jane Tomlinson Appeal was launched as a lasting legacy to Jane who died in 2007 aged just 43. This year’s race on Sunday 8 October marks the second year of the charity and Perkins Great Eastern Run fundraising together.
Despite suffering from terminal cancer Jane raised £1.8 million for children's and cancer charities through a series of incredible endurance feats which can now continue to benefit from this new community fund.
There's been a good response to date, but local causes are encouraged not to miss out on the cash and get their nominations in by the 14 August deadline.
