A helpful wellbeing plan has been put together as part of the ‘Now We’re Talking’ mental health campaign.
Organisations across Cambridgeshire have come together to launch the campaign to get people talking and beat loneliness while self-isolating during the coronavirus outbreak.
Led by the local authority, NHS and third sector, the campaign helps people find where they can get increased mental health support.
The wellbeing plan includes eight boxes which the individual can fill in themselves. These boxes include ‘things I can do to relax and calm myself down’, ‘things I can do to distract myself’ and ‘fun activities I can do’.
Kate Beed, Head of Training and Consultancy at Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire Mind (CPSL) Mind said: “The idea of the wellbeing plan is to help people get creative and think about things they can do that are good for their mental wellbeing.
“As part of the plan, you write these ideas down so you have access to them at any time. This means that when you’re feeling anxious, you don’t even have to think – you can just turn to your plan and find some activities that will help.
“The most important thing to note about this plan is that it can be edited and tailored for the individual. Everyone has different things which contribute to their wellbeing. This plan means you can think ‘what is it that works for me?’
“The activities can be as simple as focusing on your breathing or distracting yourself with a 30 minute activity like watching your favourite TV show.”
Peterborough City Councillor Wayne Fitzgerald, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Health and Public Health, said: “It’s important that we follow the government’s guidance on staying at home to stop the spread of coronavirus, save lives and protect our NHS. However, we all have to recognise that this can have an effect on mental health and talking about the issues we face at this difficult time is incredibly important.
“That’s why I’m pleased to support the Now We’re Talking Campaign and I hope it will encourage people to stay connected.
“The wellbeing plan is a great way to keep in check with our mental health and so I would encourage everyone to download the plan and give it a go themselves.”
In addition to the wellbeing plan, ‘Now We’re Talking’ helps people find where they can get increased mental health support. This includes helplines such as Lifeline Plus and Lifeline on 0808 808 2121 alongside online resources like Qwell and Keep Your Head.

Lifeline Plus runs Monday to Friday from 9am - 2pm, a listening ear for those with anxiety, low mood or life stresses. From 2pm - 11pm, Lifeline continues with support for mental distress 7 days a week.
