Resolved: At the end of the petition period

Petition title: Triple lock Peterborough's public open space
Date and where submitted: 24 October 2020 - Peterborough City Council Website
Petition request: We the undersigned petition the council to the loss of public open space in Peterborough should be treated with the utmost care, and never done lightly. The amount of open space in Peterborough is one of the city's great assets. We therefore propose stronger requirements are put in place across Peterborough when it comes to planning proposals that affect public open space. At the moment, the status of public open space can be changed without extensive consultation of local people. We would like to see Peterborough City Council commit to ‘triple lock’ our public open space: 1. Extended consultation time - from 21 days to 42 days with two days added for each public holiday that falls during the consultation period. 2. Greater promotion of community consultation than is currently required, to include: A) Posting by the Council on local community social media and online notice boards on at least three separate occasions B) A press release issued by the Council to all local media and on the council’s own website.
