Unpaid carers in Peterborough are being asked to have their say on the level of support provided to them by Peterborough City Council.
An online survey has been launched for carers and partner organisations to complete which will help the city council to understand what is going well, what needs to be better and to give suggestions on improvements that could be made. The deadline for responses is 5pm on Sunday, 3 November.
Feedback from the survey will help shape the further roll-out of the council’s All-Age Carers Strategy, a document which was co-produced by Peterborough City Council, with people with lived experience of being a carer.
A series of workshops – attended by those with a lived experience of being a carer – will take place on November 21 and 26. Attendees will use the questionnaire responses and their own experiences to help advise us on what we can do to improve our level of support.
Councillor Shabina Qayyum, cabinet member for adults and health at Peterborough City Council, said: “We want to improve our level of support for carers in Peterborough. We understand the vital role they play in keeping residents independent at home for longer and how demanding this can be.
“Recently our carers helped us to produce the All-Age Carers Strategy and we now want to determine the next stages of implementing this into our organisation. Who better to tell us how to do this, than carers themselves?
“So, we are seeking your views on how you think our support could be better and any suggestions you have to do this. The results will be discussed in a series of workshops which I will attend in November.”
