Understanding the needs and strengths of the local voluntary sector

We are keen to build on existing relationships and to improve our ways of working with the sector. We understand that since the Covid-19 pandemic, your organisations have done more than ever to support local people and bring people together in local communities. But we're also hearing that since then many of your organisations have faced previously unseen challenges and need support in some areas and would welcome new ways of working with the council and our health partners.

Therefore, we would like to invite you to provide honest and detailed feedback in this survey. The insights you share will feed directly into our Prevention, Independence and Resilience Programme of work, focused on transformation and planning how we can better partner with and empower the VCSE sector going forward.

This survey is not exclusively for organisations that have previously been funded or commissioned by the council. All charitable organisations in the city can take part. This includes:

  • Charities
  • Community organisations, groups or clubs
  • Faith-based organisations with charitable aims / focused on social action
  • Social enterprises

How we will use your feedback

Your feedback will help us to get a better understanding of what the local voluntary, community and faith sector looks like since the pandemic, what your organisations are experiencing and your needs. From this we will be able to move ahead with developing our approach to infrastructure support and our approach to referrals and wider partnership work around strengthening the independence and resilience of our communities.

New organisations - benefits of partnership

You might not have worked with the council / ICS partners, or received funding from our organisations in the past, but there are several potential benefits to working more closely with us:

  • Access to direct information about upcoming local funding / commissioning opportunities
  • Increased visibility of the work your organisation does and the impact it has
  • Contacts / closer working with the council and health service commissioning teams
  • Opportunity to shape the way the public sector works with local voluntary, community and faith-based sector organisations
