Cabinet members will be asked at a meeting on Tuesday 11th February to approve the award of a work contract for up to £3.5 million for the Lincoln Road regeneration scheme to begin.
The project looks to deliver improvements on a designated stretch of Lincoln Road.
Final costs are expected to be confirmed this month, and the anticipated increase is due to the original business case and early cost estimates being based on conceptual designs, as well as the inflation of building costs since submitting the business case.
A number of options are being explored to cover the expected funding shortfall to enable works to begin.
Councillor Angus Ellis, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: “Lincoln Road is a bustling hub for a wide range of communities in the north of our city. It’s a busy place with lots of shops, businesses, and people, and we know traffic and car parking are a challenge. This project aims to improve this and refresh the area to provide a better experience for people living, working, and visiting the Lincoln Road area.”
“Subject to approval, we’d like to get spades in the ground as soon as possible.”
Lincoln Road is one of eight projects to receive funding from the city’s £22.9 million Government Towns Fund programme.
