Hypnotism consent

Introduction

If you wish to show, demonstrate or perform a hypnotism act in public, you must have authorisation from us, in the form of a consent. You must apply for a separate consent for each venue or premises to be used. There is no fee for this.

Applications must be made not less than 28 days in advance of the proposed performance and you must comply with any conditions attached to an authorisation.

Once we have received a valid application the following agencies will be consulted: Police, Health and Safety, Local Safeguarding Children's Board. If there are no objections the consent will be approved and issued subject to conditions.

Fees

Qualifying criteria

Applicants must have appropriate public liability insurance in place for any proposed events. Applicants must not have been previously refused a consent or convicted of any offence under the Hypnotism Act 1952.

Yes. This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard otherwise within 40 days. 

Redress

If you have any issues regarding a hypnotism performance for example complaints relating to; noise or possible non compliance with regulations, or if one performer wishes to complain about another, please contact us in the first instance.
