Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS)

It is essential that our annual budget is part of a longer-term forecast, normally covering at least three to five years ahead.

A Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS):

• Provides the financial framework within which we can achieve and sustain financial stability in the medium term to deliver our core priorities and services
• Links our financial plans to our Corporate Strategy
• Comprises revenue and capital plans for all services
• Includes treasury management indicators and forecasts to ensure consistency across all financial policies

Each February, Full Council formally approves the Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) for the next three years. It is refreshed annually and reviewed each quarter. Cabinet considers any updates to the MTFS.
