Over 100 Blue Badges were inspected by officers in Peterborough as part of a recent initiative.

To mark national Blue Badge Action Day 2025 on 31 May, the council’s Civil Enforcement Officers took to the streets to look for individuals misusing the scheme, which allows people with disabilities or health conditions to park in certain areas.

A total of 114 Blue Badges were inspected on the day, with 12 being seized and 11 expired badges taken out of circulation.

As well as this, 21 penalty charge notices were issued to vehicles that were not displaying a Blue Badge at all.

Our enforcement officers actively engage in Blue Badge inspections throughout the year, verifying the validity of issued badges and ensuring their appropriate use.

Councillor Alison Jones, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, said: “It’s absolutely vital that we clamp down on the misuse of Blue Badges so that those using the scheme correctly can access parking. Thank you to the officers who work hard every day to make this possible.”

Misuse of a Blue Badge is a criminal offence, which can carry a fine of up to £1,000. If you believe a Blue Badge is being misused please report it at: www.peterborough.gov.uk/report-it-online
