An update on the Goods Shed project, one site of The Vine Towns Fund projects, is to be presented to Cabinet on Thursday 2 October 2025, for approval to sell the building to a developer for £250,000.

The report to the council’s Cabinet outlines re-negotiated terms for the sale of the Fletton Quays building and seeks approval for both the disposal and provision of grant funding to support its redevelopment. The proposal follows further due diligence and aims to ensure best value and alignment with the council’s growth and regeneration ambitions.

The council purchased the building from the Peterborough Investment Partnership for £250,000 in February 2024 and the land surrounding the building, will continue to be owned by the council to ensure public realm, outdoor seating space remains available.

Redevelopment of the Grade II building is also subject to planning permission.

Councillor Mohammed Farooq, Cabinet Member for Growth and Regeneration:

“This proposal represents a key milestone in the ongoing regeneration of Fletton Quays and wider city centre, aiming to bring new life into a historic building, which whilst requiring significant investment, presents an exciting opportunity to provide a unique offer for people to enjoy.”

The Goods Shed – part of The Vine – is one of eight projects in receipt of the Government Towns Fund programme, which saw £22.9 million approved for investment into projects across the city to drive economic regeneration.
