This year’s Peterborough Civic Award winners have been announced.
The Civic Awards are held by the council annually and aim to recognise residents, groups, organisations and businesses who have made a real difference to the local community.
Among the winners were Harry Machin, Chair of the Peterborough Litter Wombles, who helps to organise regular community litter picks, along with Fletton micropub The Wonky Donkey and the Peterborough Phantoms Ice Hockey club. Faustina Yang, founder and leader of Chinese Women in Peterborough, was given a Lifetime Achievement award.
All recipients will be invited to receive their awards at a special presentation being held at Sand Martin House on Thursday 14 May.
Cllr Judy Fox, the Mayor of Peterborough, said: “I would like to congratulate all of the winners and also thank everyone who made nominations. We have some absolutely fantastic communities in Peterborough and the Civic Awards are a great way to celebrate those who make a positive contribution to our city and surrounding areas but don’t always get the recognition they deserve."
