From sports camps to arts and crafts, there are a whole host of activities available for school-age children in Peterborough during the Christmas holidays.
The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme aims to provide healthy food and enriching activities for all primary and secondary school-aged children who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals. Bookings open on Monday 24 November to secure your places.
During the Christmas school holidays, eligible children can access up to four, four-hour sessions at no cost to their family. The sessions will include a healthy meal and a variety of exciting activities.
All sessions are funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and encourage children to eat healthily and be active during school holidays, take part in engaging and enriching activities, develop a greater knowledge of health and nutrition, as well as becoming more engaged with local opportunities
Councillor Katy Cole, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “The HAF programme has previously proved incredibly popular so once again I am delighted that we are offering a wide range of sessions throughout the Christmas holidays for children of all ages.
“These sessions provide healthy food and activities that enable children to interact with other children and encourage them to try out new things. If your child is eligible, then please have a look at what is on offer near you. I would also encourage parents of children with SEND to look on the council’s website and call those providers you are interested in to see what they can offer you and your child.”
