Five good causes from across Peterborough which help rough sleepers have won almost £50,000 of grants.
The Peterborough City Council and Community, Voluntary and Faith Sector Partnership Grant was designed to help rough sleepers and those at risk of rough sleeping.
Last autumn applicants were asked to apply for the funding, which was allocated by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
The scheme was designed to support innovative, impactful, and locally driven initiatives that prevent rough sleeping or support individuals currently experiencing homelessness in Peterborough.
The five recipients are:
- £19,938: Centre 33 to support provision for young people facing homelessness as part of their Someone to Talk to programme
- £3,450: CPFT Head to Toe Charity to support engagement tools for outreach activities
- £8,500: Hope Into Action to support the conversion of a family property into a shared three-bed to support single homelessness
- £14,414: Light Project Peterborough to support weekend working and provide a seven-day service at the Garden House
- £2,500: PARCA to contribute to support for homeless refugees
Cabinet member for public health, homelessness and poverty Ann Shaheed said: “We are delighted to be able to support local community, voluntary and faith sector partners – this will enable them to pilot small projects to support those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness in Peterborough.
“There is no stereotypical rough sleeper, and these small grants will provide support in a variety of different settings for those in need."
