Residents are being urged to share their views on energy use as part of a new survey aimed at helping us to deliver exciting energy efficiency initiatives in the future.

Peterborough City Council has launched a public survey as part of the Peterborough Accelerated Net Zero (PANZ) project which runs until 5pm on Friday 19 September.

By having your say, you’ll help to shape how we communicate and deliver energy projects across Peterborough, as well as guiding future initiatives and funding opportunities.

The PANZ scheme is a key part of the council’s ongoing work to deliver carbon reductions and help Peterborough to become a Net Zero city, driving healthier lives, saving money and developing our green skills market.

Cllr Angus Ellis, Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, said: “I would urge everyone to please take part in the survey, it will only take 15 minutes of your time, but your feedback will be vitally helpful.

“An anonymised analysis of all the responses will be shared with partners involved in the PANZ project, helping us to move the scheme forward. I’m looking to forward to seeing PANZ continue to develop, progressing our ongoing work to reduce carbon levels across the city.”

Last year Peterborough City Council was awarded £2.75m from Innovate UK to lead the PANZ scheme, joining the Net Zero Living Pathfinders programme as one of the seven projects to receive the highest level of funding as Demonstrator projects.

The council is actively working with communities and partners including Cambridgeshire County Council, Nordic Energy, Energy Systems Catapult, edenseven and PECT, to develop a series of Net Zero delivery plans.

A platform will be developed that considers technical data alongside social, demographic and economic data to develop delivery plans that maximise the likelihood of success. Using the tools developed in the PANZ project, financial mechanisms, engagement activities and training plans will be tailored to each project to enhance the chances of adoption of specific net zero technologies.

Peterborough was one of the first cities in the UK to adopt a Local Area Energy Plan which set out the pathway to reach net zero. It considered the current and future energy demands of heating, electricity and transport to predict what is likely to be required across low carbon heating, electricity network capacity and electricity generation.
