Myth: The council has been asked why it is continuing to use Aragon branding on its street cleansing and waste collection vehicles, after these services were transferred in-house to the authority.
Fact: On 1 April 2026 services operated by Peterborough Limited (PL) under the Aragon brand were transferred in-house to Peterborough City Council. Key services such as recycling and waste collections, street cleansing and parks, trees and open spaces continue to operate under the Aragon brand.
This branding can still be seen on street cleansing and waste collection vehicles, as well as staff uniforms. The decision was made not to change the branding at this time as it would not be a sound financial decision.
Local authorities across the country are currently preparing for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) at which point council branding will be reconsidered, therefore rebranding of these services will be considered at that point.
Staff have transferred into the service and operate under the same values and standards expected of all council services.
