Myth: People frequently comment on how the bridge is funded and wrongly believe that it is being delivered with council funding.

Fact: Cygnet Bridge is one of our Government Towns Fund projects and the money is ringfenced meaning we can only use it for the bridge and not on something else. The bridge’s other funding is made up of match funding from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and money paid to the council by developers known as the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and S106 contributions. No funding for this project is from the council’s corporate budget.

You can find out more about the project on our River Nene Pedestrian Bridge (Cygnet Bridge) webpage
