Myth: People frequently comment on how the Lincoln Road project is funded and that the money could be spent on other projects in different parts of the city.
Fact: Lincoln Road regeneration - between Windmill Street and Searjeant Street, is one of our Government Towns Fund projects and the money is ringfenced meaning we can only use it for the regeneration of this stretch of Lincoln Road and not on something else. We submitted a business case for the project and were successful in receiving funding towards its costs. Total funding for this project is £3.5m. We have secured £2.4m from the Government’s Towns Fund.
Additional funding will come from council highways budget, and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) managed by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.
You can find out more about the project on our Lincoln Road improvements webpage.
