Notices of Election were published today, giving details of the wards and parishes up for election at Peterborough City Council on Thursday 7 May 2026.
A total of 18 seats will be contested in the following wards: Bretton; Central; Dogsthorpe; East; Eye, Thorney and Newborough; Fletton and Stanground; Fletton and Woodston; Gunthorpe; Hampton Vale; Hargate and Hempsted; North; Orton Longueville; Orton Waterville; Park; Paston and Walton; Ravensthorpe; Stanground South; and Werrington.
Parish council elections will also be held in Ailsworth; Castor; Glinton; Marholm; Newborough; Borough Fen; Peakirk; Sutton; Thorney; Thornhaugh; Wansford; and Wittering.
Nominations of candidates opens tomorrow (Tuesday 31 March). Information about how to submit a nomination will be available on the council's website.
Details of candidates standing in the election will be published on Friday 10 April. This information will also be available on the council’s website.
Residents getting ready to cast their votes are reminded of the important dates and information in the run up to Thursday 7 May:
The deadline to register to vote is Monday 20 April. For anyone not yet registered it's quick and easy to do online at www.gov.uk/registertovote. Alternatively call the council's electoral services team on 01733 452249 or email electoral.services@peterborough.gov.uk.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote, or to amend an existing one, is 5pm on Tuesday 21 April. To apply for a postal vote, you must first be registered to vote.
The deadline to apply for a new proxy vote is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April. This is where a voter nominates a trusted person to cast a vote on their behalf. Again you must first be registered to vote.
Applications for postal and proxy votes should be made to the council's electoral services team.
On polling day, Thursday 7 May, polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. Polling station information is included on polling cards and also available from the council’s website.
Votes will be counted overnight following the closing of polls with election results declared in the early hours of Friday 8 May.
