Members of the public are invited to discuss the opportunities and risks around the use of AI and technology in all aspects of social care.

Carers, those supported by care and those with an interest in AI use in Social Care are encouraged to attend an event to take an in-depth look at what the council has done so far with AI.

Held by Peterborough City Council’s Adults Social Care Commissioning team, there will also be a focus on plans for the future of AI and how these will benefit people in care.

The session will take place on Monday 17 November from 11am-2pm and provide a safe space for insightful discussion around using AI in upcoming care projects. Attendees don’t have to register and can turn up to the event at Sand Martin House in the Engine Shed area (next to where the building’s reception used to be).

There will be a Q&A session as well as individual discussions with the team. Questions that will be considered include:

· What you already know about AI

· What the council needs to consider when thinking about AI and TEC in care

· How AI can help the care sector

· What concerns you might have around AI use

Refreshments will be provided.

Councillor Neil Boyce, cabinet member for adult social care for Peterborough City Council, said: “The way we deliver our services speaks to what our residents want and need; the way we use our technology must do the same.”

“Listening to the worries people have around AI and finding out how our residents hope it will benefit them allows us to keep our communities at the forefront of what we do.
