The Director of Public Health has a statutory duty to produce an Annual Public Health Report looking at the health of the community in which they work. These reports are aimed at the public, councillors and health professionals. They are a key opportunity to engage with the community and health professionals with key issues affecting the local area.
Peterborough Annual Public Health Report 2026
Our current report focuses on the importance of physical activity in all forms to benefit health and wellbeing across the life-course.
While individual health behaviours are shaped by the social, economic and physical environments people live in; we want to inspire everyone to move more and experience the great benefits of regular physical activity. This is especially important because Peterborough is a diverse city and offers abundant opportunities to get active. The message isn’t new but the scale of impact and the inequalities in outcomes make it imperative to take urgent action.
Being regularly active can improve your health today and in future years to come; it can reduce your risk of chronic disease, has the potential to improve existing health problems and increase the number of years you live in good health.
Information is included on how to get started no matter what your baseline fitness is and how to overcome possible barriers.
