Get involved to help shape services in Peterborough

Your voice is important. By hearing the viewpoints of everyone we can provide services that meet the needs of our community.

Co-production is a way of different people working together to identify, plan and deliver services that are needed and are fit for purpose.

People involved in co-production can include staff from Adult Social Care, health, and the voluntary sector, and most importantly, people who use our services or ‘people with lived experience’.

Each person makes an equal contribution to influencing how a service is designed by sharing their own knowledge and experience.

If you express an interest in co-production with us, you are not committing yourself to working with us. The information you provide will help us to understand your interest and experience of Adult Social Care services, and will help us to identify co-production opportunities. The information you provide will also help us to identify suitable co-production projects that you may be interested in.

We will contact you to discuss any co-production opportunities. Your interest is not a commitment on your part, any engagement will depend on your availability and interest in the work.

Please email ascinfo@peterborough.gov.uk to let us know if you are interested in adult care co-production.

Please take a look at our Privacy policy - Privacy policy | Peterborough City Council

We have a range of opportunities available for people to learn more about co-production and we can arrange support if you need help taking part or getting your views heard. You are also able to claim travel expenses when you take part in co-production events and you may be able to claim an involvement fee depending on the activity that you get involved with.

There are many different ways you can be involved with co-production. All play an important role in us developing services and providing information which meet the needs of our community. The level of commitment for each project varies and can range from a one-off meeting or engagement event or a phone call, to attending a number of meetings.

Opportunities might include:

  • Membership to one of the Healthwatch Partnership Boards.

  • Completing surveys.

  • Helping to develop service specifications and evaluate tender responses.

  • Being part of a focus group.

  • Developing communications and literature.

Help us improve Care in the Community

We are working to improve care in the community. If you or someone you care for is over 18 and receives care at home, Supported Living Services or Extra Care Housing, then we want to hear from you. You are the experts and your input is invaluable.

We are replacing our Care at Home contract in 2025 and want to engage adults who receive any of the services below in Peterborough.

  • Home Care: Home care is considered any care someone receives in their own home delivered by a paid care worker.
  • Extra Care: Consists of purpose-built flats or houses, where varying amounts of care and support can be offered and some services and facilities are shared.
  • Supported Living: Involves a person living in shared accommodation and receiving care/support in order to promote their independence.

If you are interested to hear more about how you can be involved please email ascinfo@peterborough.gov.uk to let us know if you are interested in adult care co-production.

Working in partnership with Healthwatch Peterborough

Adult Social Care and Health are intrinsically linked. We work in partnership with Healthwatch Peterborough who are your local health and social care champions. They are an independent body whose work offers service users, families, and carers a voice to help shape services.

What is Over a Brew?

We want time to get alongside each other over a brew, to share and test out ideas that will improve people’s experiences of requesting and accessing adult social care. Therefore, over the last couple of years, Councils in the eastern region alongside Curators of Change (people who access care and support) have set up virtual “Over a Brew” coffee sessions to provide an open, honest space for people who draw on care and support, commissioners and providers to come together to talk about what’s working well and not so well.

The key findings from each session, which is now run every last Wednesday of each month (except August and December), will feed back into the “Putting People at the Heart of Care and Support” working group which consists of Assistant Director Leads and Network Leads from local areas in the East.

Who can come to an Over a Brew?

Anyone with an interest in the delivery and improvement of adult social care across the East. This could be a person accessing care and support, a person looking for adult social care and support, a family member, a carer, a provider or a member of staff including commissioner of adult social care.

What to expect

These sessions will be online and interactive Zoom workshops, they are non-mandatory and flexible – come to as many or as few as you like.

The Over a Brew team are currently working to plan the themes for the sessions this season based on feedback from attendees over the last year.

How do I find out more information about Over a Brew?
