Our offer

Mobile phones

If you don't already have a working mobile phone, we can help.

Care Leavers aged 17 to 25 may be able to:

  • Get support with the cost of buying a mobile phone
  • Receive a donated mobile phone (if available)

Your Personal Advisor will apply for this on your behalf after a needs assessment. This is a short form which helps us understand your current situation to make sure this is right for you. It will then need a Team Manager to agree before it is approved.

If you've already bought a mobile phone, we can reimburse you up to £60 if:

  • You provide a receipt
  • A needs assessment was completed beforehand

Thanks to our IT Team, we can offer phone cases for Care Leavers. Request one by emailing the Care Leaver Local Offer Lead at leavingcare@peterborough.gov.uk.

Please note:

  • We may have a waiting list
  • Availability depends on the model of your phone

Care Leavers who are struggling with internet access can receive a free Data SIM card.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be aged 18+
  • On a low income
  • Have limited or no access to the internet

Please speak to your Personal Advisor if you would like to get a free Data SIM card.

Laptops and tablets

Care Leavers can apply for a laptop or tablet to support education, work or personal development.

We give out the devices based on need and availability. There may be a waiting list.

The devices are donated or purchased. Once you receive one, it becomes your personal property to look after carefully. We cannot replace or repair your device if it's lost, stolen or damaged.

Please speak to your Personal Advisor to apply.

Build your digital skills

Create an account on the Learn My Way website to access free online courses where you can:

  • Learn how to set up a laptop or smartphone
  • Manage your money and health online
  • Build confidence with everyday digital skills

Use a computer, printer or photocopier at a Peterborough library
