What is Ready Steady Grow?
Ready Steady Grow is a campaign we have launched for families with children under 5, and it’s all about the importance of PLAY!
Playing is vital for 0-5s. It helps them understand the world around them, prepares them to thrive at school, and it’s also lots of fun! It’s not about having lots of toys or setting up elaborate games. All you need is a few everyday objects to spark your child’s curiosity and see where it leads.
We’ll regularly be posting play ideas and tips created by Peterborough Family Hubs and our partners. We know how busy family life can get, so everything we recommend will always be easy, fuss-free and at low or no cost.
Local businesses and organisations can sign up to our Play Charter
We have created a Play Charter for family-friendly businesses and organisations to sign up for, which states that:
- Children have the right to play
- Everyday is an opportunity to play
- Play environments must be safe and inclusive
- We value, protect and advocate for play
If you're a family-friendly organisation or business in Peterborough, why not join us?
Our Play Practitioners will work with you to come up with ideas to safely encourage children to play without parents having to resort to screens - whether that's in cafes, restaurants, shops, waiting rooms or somewhere else.
