Report an issue with a drain, gully or manhole

We are responsible for the maintenance of drains, gullies and manholes on adopted public highways in Peterborough. This excludes the A1 and A47, which are both the responsibility of National Highways.

Sometimes issues can occur with the drains, gullies and manholes we are responsible for. If you come across one of the following issues, please report to us:

  • A blocked or overflowing drain or gully
  • Flooding on the highway caused by an issue with a drain or gully
  • Issues with manhole or drain covers - e.g. sunken, rattling, broken, missing etc

Broken or missing manhole covers

Broken or missing manhole covers should not be reported online. Instead, they should be treated as a potential emergency and reported by phone.

Please call our Customer Services Team on 01733 747474 between Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. During evenings, weekends and bank holidays, please call our out-of-hours emergency number on 0845 604 3127 (calls cost 5p per minute plus your telephone company’s network access charge).

Flooding on the highway or blocked drains / gullies

  • Report online (you will receive a response within 10 working days)
  • Call Customer Services on 01733 747474 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)
  • Call 0845 604 3127 if the flooding is out-of-hours and requires a road closure (calls cost 5p per minute plus your telephone company’s network access charge)

If the flooding becomes an emergency and poses a danger, please call 999.
