The Statement of Community Involvement sets out how we work with local people and wider stakeholders to plan for the future of Peterborough. We focused on planning applications and planning policy matters, such as the preparation of a new Local Plan. The Peterborough Statement of Community Involvement was adopted on 15 November 2021.
How does the Statement of Community Involvement support the local community:
As a council, we are responsible for deciding whether a development should go ahead. It supports residents by enhancing arrangements for community involvement in public consultations. The government sets out the national requirements for this. The Statement of Community Involvement sets out our local commitments.
How can residents have their say:
We have outlined in the Statement of Community Involvement that local people can have their say in the following ways:
- Public consultations for planning policy documents such as the local plan
- Planning applications
- Reporting planning control breaches
- Commenting on appeals relating to applications that have been refused by the council
- Getting involved with preparations for plans and policies under the Neighbourhood Planning rules
