City Centre Pedestrian and Cycle Zone Order 2026

This order superseded the existing 2024 Pedestrian and Cycle Zone Order and in summary:

• Expands the area of coverage to include Bridge Street and restricts access to it from both Wentworth Street and Priestgate.
• There are no changes to the times of access or delivery from the 2024 Order.
• It includes provision to further restrict access for temporary events within the order rather than producing individual orders for each event that may take place on Cathedral Square e.g. Christmas lights switch-on.

• Westgate - Pedestrian and Cycle Zone - launched 5 February 2024
• Long Causeway - Pedestrian and Cycle Zone - launched 5 February 2024
