Residents can now donate tins of good quality unwanted paint and also collect it for free as part of a new service.
Peterborough City Council has teamed up with Community Repaint (sponsored by Dulux) to offer the service at the Household Recycling Centre (HRC) in Fengate.
Shelving has been installed at the facility where residents can donate old or unused tins of paint. HRC staff will check that all donated paint is still useable and residents can then pick this up free of charge for their own projects.
If you would like to donate or collect paint, simply speak to a member of staff at the HRC. If you do not like the paint or have an issue with it, please bring the tin back to site on your next visit. Staff will either put it back into the store for reuse or dispose of it correctly.
Councillor Chris Wiggin, Peterborough City Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “I am delighted that we are now offering this valuable service, which is something that other councils provide for their residents.
“It further demonstrates our commitment to helping the environment. I would urge anyone who has unwanted paint at home, or is in need of paint for some DIY, to visit the HRC and our staff will be happy to assist you.”
