Prospective candidates and their agents looking to stand in this year's local and parish elections are invited to attend a briefing session next month.

Peterborough City Council's Chief Executive Matthew Gladstone, who is also the council's Returning Officer, will be holding a briefing session for all prospective candidates and their agents to discuss election processes. The event takes place at Sand Martin House in Bittern Way, Peterborough, on Wednesday 11 March at 6pm.

An overview will also be given on the nomination process, election timetable, postal voting procedures, the counting process and electoral integrity issues.

A total of 18 seats on Peterborough City Council will be contested on Thursday, 7 May 2026 in the following wards: Bretton; Central; Dogsthorpe; East; Eye, Thorney and Newborough; Fletton and Stanground; Fletton and Woodston; Gunthorpe; Hampton Vale; Hargate and Hempsted; North; Orton Longueville; Orton Waterville; Park; Paston and Walton; Ravensthorpe; Stanground South; and Werrington.

Parish council elections will also be held in Ailsworth; Castor; Glinton; Marholm; Newborough; Borough Fen; Peakirk; Sutton; Thorney; Thornhaugh; Wansford; and Wittering.
