
In May 2025, a new £13.5 million Centre for Green Technology was officially unveiled at Peterborough College, part of the Inspire Education Group (IEG).
The Centre for Green Technology is set to become a leading force in sustainability education. It supports full-time students, apprentices and adult learners with cutting-edge training in subjects such as electric vehicle infrastructure, solar PV systems, air source heat pumps, retrofit and sustainable construction practices.

How the project was funded
The £13.5 million project was partly funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA), with £2.471 million from the Transforming Cities Fund, £400,000 from the Local Growth Fund, £1.9 million from Peterborough City Council via the Government's Towns Fund, and £1.42 million from the Department for Education's Local Skills Improvement Fund. Inspire Education Group’s contribution to the project was £8.3 million, with £5.5 million from the Department for Education capital loan scheme and £2.8 million from IEG’s capital reserves.
