Unlocking economic growth in our Cathedral city

Join us on our journey to become England's next 'Core City' located within the Oxford / Cambridge growth corridor.

Peterborough has a diverse population and is already the fifth fastest growing city in the UK.

Our soon-to-be established Peterborough City Centre Growth Board is on the lookout for master planners, developers and land assembly experts to support and shape future phases of development, including commercial, residential and supporting infrastructure to unlock economic growth in our city centre.

Help us bring together more than 30 investment sites and be part of our Fast Growth City's future.

Our city centre is Peterborough's beating heart and boasts one of the finest Norman cathedrals in Europe. Its modern new university campus is providing home-grown talent for our developing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and green technology sector creating jobs-of-the-future.

Peterborough is already a major Eastern railway exchange offering travel to London in under 50 mins and now Peterborough Station is undergoing a £65 million transformation. Work has started on our new station quarter development including a new station building on the western side of the railway and the refurbishment of the existing building on the eastern side.

As well as providing better access and new parking at one of the UK’s busiest railway stations, the development will include a modern new link into the city centre and kick-start the redevelopment of the area, providing a wealth of residential and commercial opportunities.

The city centre itself is set to undergo a huge transformation to revitalise its historic assets and hidden gems and re-establish Peterborough as a thriving place where residents choose to spend time, businesses want to locate and is a destination of choice for visitors from across the UK.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a city of national significance as it expands to become England’s next Core City on the Oxford/Cambridge Growth Corridor.

Project funding sources

Peterborough is undergoing significant transformation through Government investment in city projects.

In recent years, we have secured £22.9 million in Towns Fund investment and around £50 million in Levelling Up Fund for the Station Quarter redevelopment.

Key projects include the Station Quarter regeneration and the Vine project including Central Library, Peterscourt and the Goods Shed.
