Unlocking economic growth in our Cathedral city

Join us on our journey to become England's next 'Core City' located within the Oxford / Cambridge growth corridor.

Peterborough has a diverse population and is already the fifth fastest growing city in the UK.

Our soon-to-be established Peterborough City Centre Growth Board is on the lookout for master planners, developers and land assembly experts to support and shape future phases of development, including commercial, residential and supporting infrastructure to unlock economic growth in our city centre.

Help us bring together more than 30 investment sites and be part of our Fast Growth City's future.

Our city centre is Peterborough's beating heart and boasts one of the finest Norman cathedrals in Europe. Its modern new university campus is providing home-grown talent for our developing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and green technology sector creating jobs-of-the-future.

Peterborough is already a major Eastern railway exchange offering travel to London in under 50 mins and now Peterborough Station is undergoing a transformation. Work has started on our new station quarter development including a new station building on the western side of the railway and the refurbishment of the existing building on the eastern side.

As well as providing better access and new parking at one of the UK’s busiest railway stations, the development will include a modern new link into the city centre and kick-start the redevelopment of the area, providing a wealth of residential and commercial opportunities.

The city centre itself is set to undergo a huge transformation to revitalise its historic assets and hidden gems and re-establish Peterborough as a thriving place where residents choose to spend time, businesses want to locate and is a destination of choice for visitors from across the UK.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of a city of national significance as it expands to become England’s next Core City on the Oxford/Cambridge Growth Corridor.

Peterborough regeneration programmes

Pride in Place Programme

The Government has pledged up to £40m through the Pride in Place Programme to two neighbourhoods in Peterborough:

  1. Orton Malborne and Orton Goldhay
  2. Paston, Gunthorpe and Welland

The money is to be split equally and will give each neighbourhood control of up to £2m every year for the next 10 years. It is to be spent on projects that will make a real difference to the areas and the residents who live there. A key part of the programme is that it is locally led, by those who know their communities best.

Visit our Peterborough Pride in Place section to find out more about the programme.
