School readiness

School readiness is about making sure that your child has the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and practical skills they need to succeed in school.

Your child will have new activities, routines and people to get used to when they start school. It is important they feel prepared practically and emotionally so they can settle in well.

Visit our school readiness page to find an easy guide to help your get your child ready for school, ready to learn and ready to succeed.

Determined admission arrangements

Each year, we hold a consultation on school admission arrangements for the following academic year. This gives parents, schools and all other interested parties the chance to have their say. Once concluded, we determine the admission arrangements and publish the information.
