Successful fly-tipping prosecutions
Using our enforcement powers, our officers seek out and prosecute people responsible for fly-tipping and can issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) of up to £1,000.
Serious cases are dealt with by the courts. Magistrates’ Courts have the power to impose fines of up to £50,000 or 12 months’ imprisonment.
The following cases are examples of successful fly-tipping prosecutions in recent months.
Fly-tipping on White Post Road South, Eye
Georgi Atanasov paid a man £20 to dispose of a mattress along with bags and boxes of household waste. These items were then found dumped in a verge at White Post Road South in Eye.

Fly-tipping on Russell Street
Marian and Mirela Vasile dumped several bags of household waste in Russell Street in November 2024. In separate incidents that same week, Marian Vasile dumped further items in Russell Street and a sofa in Springfield Road.

Fly-tipping of mattress
Petre Constantin and Marius Constantin were captured on CCTV carrying a mattress from their home and depositing it on a street in Peterborough in March 2025.

Operation of an illegal waste collection and disposal business
Mark Wheeler was found guilty of breaching an existing Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in March 2026. As part of the hearing, we produced additional evidence that Mr Wheeler was operating a waste collection and disposal business illegally, by failing to provide waste transfer documents.

Householder paid unlicensed company to dispose of waste
Jaroslav Kocko admitted paying a company to take household waste, without checking whether they were licensed. The waste was later found in Oxney Road and traced back to him by officers.

Fly-tipping of garden waste in Newborough
Ivan Curtis also appeared before magistrates recently and admitted dumping garden waste in Newborough which was caught on one of the council's covert CCTV cameras.

Fly-tipping of household waste in Third Drove, Fengate
Bags dumped by Philimon Wakabikwa were found in Third Drove in Fengate with the waste traced back to him.

Elena Ion dumped bags of household waste in Clarence Road, Millfield.
