From the moment you make your entrance to the exchange of your vows and the gifting of rings, the Lawns ceremonies package at Peterborough Register Office puts you at the heart of your special day.
Celebrate your wedding or civil partnership with up to 30 of your closest friends and family. Our ceremonies are designed to be intimate, personal and affordable. It’s an opportunity to make a vow to the one you love and include unique touches at the heart of this memorable occasion.
You’ll be announced as newlyweds in a setting that can include music, readings and vows to which you can add a personal element. You choose the season, the date and music. We’re here to make your day easy, stress-free and perfect for you.
What happens during this type of ceremony
During this ceremony, you will make your legal vows to each other and have the option to exchange rings.
You can choose several songs and up to two readings to feature in your ceremony. After the declaration, we will ask you and your witnesses to sign the marriage or civil partnership schedule.
After your ceremony has finished, you are welcome to take photographs by the old stone archway in our garden. You have exclusive use for about 20 minutes.
There are four ceremony script options for marriages - Bluebell, Primrose, Snowdrop and Violet - and three for civil partnerships - Laurel, Maple and Oak. You can also build your own script using the options.

The law requires the presence of two witnesses during your ceremony.
The two witnesses are included within your 30 guests.
Witnesses must be:
- Aged 18 years or over
- Able to speak and understand English
- Able to understand the proceedings
- Present in the ceremony room for the entirety of the ceremony
You can use relatives, friends, or strangers off the street! Ideally, we need to know who your witnesses are in advance of the ceremony.
Our Register Office staff cannot act as witnesses for you or provide them.
Without two suitable witnesses on the day, we will not be able to proceed with your ceremony.
We have provided below a copy of the Bluebell wedding vow script. You do not need to remember any wording.
