Hot weather service update - waste and recycling
Due to the extremely hot weather, we made temporary changes between Wednesday 24 June and Friday 26 June to protect our crews while they continued to work hard to collect your waste. Due to temperatures reaching 38°C, we suspended collections at 3pm today.
On Saturday 27 June, volunteer crews will prioritise collecting black, brown and food waste bins missed on Friday 26 June. If there is enough time, we will also collect recycling. If not, green bins will be collected on the next collection day. Crews will start at 6.30am.
Subject to weather conditions, we plan to return to normal operations from 6:30am on Tuesday, including bulky waste collections, bin delivery jobs, and the clinical waste collections that were postponed.
We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding while we keep our workforce safe.

How to safely dispose of batteries and vapes
Batteries and disposable vapes should never be placed inside household waste and recycling bins. They can cause fires in our collection vehicles. In 2023, we dealt with 10 fires in our collection vehicles.
Visit our battery and vapes disposal page for more information.
